Dishwasher - what, where & how?

My dishwasher has given up the ghost...

Its been a few weeks now and the novelty of washing up again has worn off....

I don't know what one to choose, you only really ever use one or two settings. There are so many I feel totally bewildered and fed up! Old one - was a Hotpoint Aquarius so not sure about going for another one....

I don't want to spend a fortune as I don't have one! I'm seeing names like Indesit (been going for years but any good?) Beko - who? I've never heard of them, and then you get into the 'big' names and the prices treble.

Ideas for deals, makes and sites etc very welcome! helped me when washing machine expired, so am pleasantly optimistic!

Thanks

PS Hope this is the best forum to post on...

I like bosch - got a good deal, thanks to someone on here, for my washing machine, it was from John Lewis. Bosch dishwashers seem to be more than I would really like to pay. Trying to keep costs down.

This a third vote for Bosch. The Whirlpool we inherited when we bought our house gave up the ghost six months ago., After much research I ended-up buying what I've always bought in the past (a Bosch) and it has proved faultless, so far.

If money had been no object I might have bought a Miele, but money certainly was and I can't complain about any aspect of the Bosch's performance.

Another vote for Bosch. I bought a Bosch Classix a couple of years ago, less than £300, no problems at all and you get 2 years warranty with Bosch if you register online after you buy.
  • I would love to win a Bosch or a Miele one. They are worth every penny, but my purse seems to disagree. I spend two days at an auction and bought a Hotpoint for 10 pounds. I spend another 50 pounds on putting new pipes in the kitchen and to get it connected. It is doing it's job perfectly. I give it an encouraging tap every morning after our 6 person breakfast stuff goes in and off it goes!
I never realized how much personal info is out there that can be used and abused to suit every purpose.

AEG - avoid whirlpool like the plague. Had one with my kitchen units and it packed up within 9 months, repaired, packed up again after the year warranty and they wanted £200 for the parts. Decided to dump it and get the AEG instead.

I bought a Baumatic dishwasher from Trading Post in January. They seem to have a number of well priced machines.

I've got a Bosch, which is very quiet, and works well.

I previously had an indesit (a bargain buy), which lasted approx 6/7 years until my then toddler broke the closing mechanism by continually opening, and jumping on the door. It was very noisy, and i definitely prefer my bosch.
