Buyers wants to send cash in the post

I have just sold an item on Ebay. The buyer has just emailed asking for my address and has said, because its a small amount (£4.49), she will send payment by recorded delivery. Is this wise?

I'm sure I read somewhere on here that cash is not covered, even if recorded.
I guess it will get to me as it will be recorded...???

Sorry if this a really stupid question, this is only the second item I have sold. :o

  • Tell him/her that they should not send coins but you will accept a £5 note.

i would only accept cash in post if they send the cash special delivery which is kinda against the object. Ask for a postal order more than cash.
Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.

I wouldn't accept cash at all.
For one it's against ebay rules and secondly, the envelope could be empty and you could end up with negative feedback saying you stole her money.
May sound far fetched but I wouldn't risk it.

I was thinking if she's going to pay extra for recorded delivery, she may as well send a postal order

It's only against the rules to solicit a cash payment by post.

If the buyer is insistent, all you can do is advise them they do it at their own risk.

I have received cash through the post but only a small amount like yours (£5) She didn't tell me she was sending cash but it was all ok! It should be ok!
