Hi I am wanting some help please, I got a letter from work because I am off work with anxiety and get paid under £97 pounds a week,they give me a form to send away for E & S A,my employers cant pay sick pay and this is why they have given me this form, Please could someone help me with this cause I am not sure what it actually is, Thanks.

I presume the form is the SSP1. This goes to the DWP with your claim for ESA along with a current sick note.
The normal rate of payment is £65.45 and you will get this for the first 13 weeks.
During that 13 week period you will have to complete a ESA50 which is a type of self assessment of your inabilities to perform certain actions and more than likely have to have a medical to find out if you are unfit for work. The chances are that you will be told that you are fit for work and should claim JSA instead.
You can of course appeal against that decision but you will have to provide enough evidence to convince the court that you are not fit for work according to the various descriptors.
Currently there is a wait of upwards of 18 months to get to the court. Your assessment rate (£65.45) will be paid whilst you are waiting.0 -
Thanks for your help,yes that is what they sent, I am also waiting to attend the mental health day hospital for treatment,I was there a couple of weeks ago and am just waiting on a date,this will help with my drepression also,and have been taking meds for 18 months,sorry for going on, I just panic at everything at the moment, thanks again for all the help.0

Ah - been there and done that! They do a great job in those centres - I didn't want to go home - you feel safe in there.0
