What feedback to leave?

Hi,
I'm in a bit of a quandary over what feedback to leave and just wanted a few opinions please.

I bought a bundle of girls clothes, paid £1.75, but I'd also put my highest bid at a little over £4.00, plus £4.00 P&P. It stated in the listing that some items have an odd mark or stain that would come out. Fair enough.

So I received the goods yesterday and OMG, it honestly is the worse purchase I've ever made on Ebay with regard to childrens clothes.
90% of the bundle have marks that will never come out no matter what you do, the rest as well as being marked also have holes in or are frayed or are very badly bobbled and all items were covered in pet hair.

I sell on Ebay as well and there is no way that I would have put this lot on even as playwear.

I messaged the buyer re item not as described and they have replied stating that it was clearly listed as playwear.........umm, no it wasn't it was listed as a 'bundle to spoil your princess with' but they have offered to refund me, after I have returned the items and paid for the return postage which is another £4.00 odd. Which clearly I'm not going to do as it's just throwing more money at a bundle of rubbish.

Having read this back I really feel that I should leave a neg despite the offer of a refund. But I would really appreciate your opinions please.

    Your options are:

    1. Return and hope the seller refunds you.
    2. Return, via a tracked method in case the buyer doesn't refund you and then have the option of a SNAD if the tracking tracks.
    3. Bin the items.

Aside of all this, you also have the feedback and DSR options.

Feedback is worthless to others unless it's honest. Neg them to warn others of this "shyster".

  • Message to seller; I'm having to bin the lot as the clothes aren't fit for dusters let alone for a child to wear. Obviously my feedback will reflect this as well as your response to this message with regards to a total refund. I shall be leaving feedback in 48 hours; your move'.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Not a good idea at all.

By all means leave negative feedback, but any attempt to extort a refund without returning by threatening feedback is against policy and can result in an account suspension or closure.

It's not extortion; it's a reflection of the business transaction.

Feedback is yes, but the veiled threat within your message could be construed as extortion.

No, you are giving them a chance at rectifying the situation....isn't that what feedback is all about?

    In your post you stated.......

Therefore you are saying you are throwing the items away, not returning them. Then you infer that a total refund will be required otherwise anything other than positive feedback will be given.

In essence you are not offering to return for a refund but telling the seller you are not returning the item but still expect a full refund.

It is absolutely fine to tell a seller you will leave a negative unless they refund, IF you return. But not if you do not intend to return, as you are now in the realms of having goods not included in the listing (ie having them for free).

I'm sorry but I'm also one who would not threaten, even infer, that I was going to leave a neg. If I leave a neg I want it to stay there to warn other buyers, not stand even the faintest chance of ebay removing it for feedback extortion.

Thanks for your replies so far.

I have no intention of messaging the seller again. I gave them the opportunity yesterday to decide what to do. And clearly, they have no intention of giving me a full refund as they have stated only refunding the £1.75 and not the P&P.
So it would end up costing me £8.50 to get a load of rubbish. Really not worth it is it.

So I think I'm going to leave a neg along the lines of -

'Very disappointed with condition of bundle. Seller offered a refund on return of goods. But not worth doing'

    How does that sound?
