On Street Parking

Hi All
Now Im probably going to get shot down for posting this as I know nobody has a 'right' to park outside their own home when it is on street parking
. But Im venting I suppose because I know there is no solution to this problem other than moving (its in the pipeline but houses arent selling very quickly!)
I live on a short row of about 9 houses and there are no houses opposite. Its a very quiet little street and to 'exit' the street at my end of the row we have to use a narrow back street. I am at number 3.
My neighbour at number 5 used to use a measuring tape to ensure she was exactly outside her property. Im not kidding. If someone was in 'her' space she would loiter by the window and as soon as they left she would come out immediately and move her car. This was fine (although a bit 'a' retentive) until her boyfriend moved in and his space was now outside my house . I suppose there was nothing I could do but put up and shut up. Anyway they have now moved on to pastures new :T and at the moment the property is empty.
Now my neighbour at number 1 insists on parking half outside my property, I presume so that those using the back street dont hit his car (he leaves 2-3 metres from the junction at the side of his house). So some days I can park partly ouside my house (No 3) and partly outside the empty one next door (No 5)
You would think that this would be fine (until number 5 has a new owner anyway) . . . . . but now the neighbour from number 7 has started parking closer and closer. I came out of the house this morning to find a six inch gap in front of me and a two foot gap behind my car. Im ok at parking etc but this took a few attempts to get out of :T
Yes I know I sound like a complaining cow :rotfl:but i work unsociable hours and everyone else is parked up by the time I get home most days

My only suggestion is that you leave a decent gap between yourself & the car at no.1, so that if the car from no.7 parks too close, you can always reverse into said space to manouevre out. (Which it sounds like you did).:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

You have no rights to park outside your property as the other vehicles are taxed, your best course of action is to speak to your neighbours about this and ask them nicely not to park so close.
I have a similar problem with my works vehicle and the neighbours works van, so had a chat with with him and we park about 20 meters from our houses, and we block each other in as both have trackers and cannot be used once we finish work.
Most problems like this have solutions if you are all pro-activeExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
I'm living in my first home that doesn't have off street parking.............. I won't be making the same mistake again! Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

Let me know where you live and I'll do my best to come and park outside nos 5,7,9 &11Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Hi all and thanks for your replies
I know there are more important things in life to worry about - but it does make the blood boil that some days only two cars are parked in front of five houses and no-one else can park there because of their (very badly) parked cars
To C-Mybabejive :rotfl: Brilliant - When can you bring your rather small van haha.0
