Unless you mean w windmill, I guess what you are talking about is an air source heat pump for your heating system.

Your electricity comes from the mains as normal. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I too have an Air source heat pump, if used correctly, you will find it is the most economic form of heating with very low bills, do you know what make it is?

It's like air conditioning but heat is pumped into the home rather than the cold air being sucked out.
Not only is it supposed to be cheaper, you may qualify for RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) payments from April next year. The level these payments are to be set at is due to be announced sometime this month so look out for that!
Is your new home a new build? I'm not sure if new builds will qualify or not so do some research on it - don't take my word for it.
Hope that helps,

Sorry to correct you poo, air is neither sucked or pumped in to the home...
An air source heat pump, can be either air to air, (typical air conditioning, which heats and/or cools),
or
Air to water,
The very hot refrigerant is in a sealed pipe and is fed through the inside of a heat exchanger. In between the heat exchanger plates, is the water from your radiators which, when the water passes across these plates, it picks up the heat and is then circulated back through to the central heating systems rads as hot water typically around 55 degrees.
As poo states, if the RHI goes ahead, it could make installing a Heat Pump a sensible option. There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

yes my house is currently being built just now and im not to sure about this air source energy thewy are talking about, i know theres no radiators and gas going in the property all the heating etc will be runn thro electric, all i been told it sucks the cold air in from, outside and generated to hot air around the home and this also heats the water ur cooker everything is this correct? ande no i dont have a windmill lol or any of these turbines u see in the middle of the water:beer:
kind regards

mandy2008, you need to ask more questions about the set up you are having, from what you are describing could be a mix of mechanical heat recovery ventilation, with air to water heat pump fed into hot water cylinder for the domestic hot water, taps showers, etc.., the heat pump would also supply the warm water for under floor heating as there are no radiators. No gas required at all.
I'd check about the cooker though, probably standard leccy cooker. There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

Lol! Thanks, I stand corrected.
I find it very difficult to imagine something that can extract heat from air even at temeratures of -15 degrees. I really can't get my head around it so my eyes glaze over and my brain implodes for a bit, I don't properly understand what you wrote but I'll keep reading it till it sinks in!
I can understand the ground source heat pumps - I get that but the air does my head in.
I guess I know it works because we've just had the air heat pumps fitted at work. They look like air conditioning units and our system does work through the air conditioning ducts rather than radiators. we don't have a single radiator in the building.

The development sounds quite progressive.
Can you give us the name and location of the site, or at least the name of the developer. They probably have a marketing website for the development, which explains how they are doing it.0 -

This is the type of air source system I have at home. Works very well & economical to run.0 -

The concept is no different to your Freezer.
The air and food inside the freezer might be -18C or so. Yet the freezer is still extracting heat from that food to get it to say -20C and you can feel the 'warmth' at the back of the freezer.
An Air Source Heat Pump(ASHP) is trying to cool down the outside air where you live and the 'warmth' it extracts from that outside air is utilized in the house.0
