Please help!!

Okay, first off I'm utterly non-techie and could really do with your help please :o:o

Last week my laptop died, the power cord wouldn't charge anymore, I replaced it but within a day that wouldn't work either and the laptop began smelling like germolene  So I went and bought a new laptop. However, I have pictures and documents on the old laptop that I really want on the new one (have never backed up, meant to find out how but never got round to it :o).

So today I have bought a hards drive enclosure, removed the hard drive from the old laptop, connected it all up but can't find any folders on it when I've connected it to the new laptop. I can see stuff on there such as William Hill Casino / Itunes / Openoffice etc that I've downloaded, but can't see any actual folders or docs. Am I being really dumb?? Many thanks in advance for any help you can give me!! :)

How can you see stuff on there if you can't see folders? The only thing you should be able to see is folders besides a few things in the main directory. If I was going to guess your just looking a subfolder on the drive - perhaps the desktop.

I think i've only gone and done it ... I've spent all afternoon trying to figure it out and finally admitted defeat and posted here ... then five minutes later I seem to have clicked it :j Nope, I couldn't see any folders, but went into users (was just going through everything I could click on), and it said I didn't have permission but then took me to a screen to change security settings, and from that I managed to open my old user account and the folders were in there :D Now just trying to move them across to the new laptop, but at least I know they're definitely on there :T
