New address, new post code

I've moved in to a new build of flats and no utility company recognises my address, some don't even recognise the post code. Those that do recognise the post code only recognise flat 5 (14 in the development) which I find odd and can't see why only 1 of the flats is visible to them. The LL has told me RM have updated their database to include the site (RM website lists the address but says post code couldn't be found) but I have no idea how long it may take for this change to filter down into companies' own databases?

Could be a very long time - my flat was built in the early eighties and I still come across suppliers whose database doesn't include even the complex, let along the flat.0

It took about 3 years for delivery companies to update when my postcode was changed by the council. Not RM's fault as they did they update straight away. When I left after 5 years TalkTalk still didn't have the address on their database.3.9kWp solar PV installed 21 Sept 2011, due S and 42° roof.

The worst is a company who has an out-of-date database but who's website allows you to enter the address correctly yourself - then doesn't save what you put anyway :-(0

We moved into a new build in March and at first had problems but our postcode and address seems to appear on most systems now. All we did was as advised here under the new build question on the Q&A:

Not sure if it made a difference or that just updates Royal Mail database, but either way your address should start appearing on systems after a few months

I had this problem 25 years ago. Bought a new build, plot 28, but the address was No.26. Took quite a while for everything to settle down.0

i've been told in the past that companies have to buy the list of properties, or at least they have to buy the software that allows them to check the addresses, and companies have sort of a subscription to it and buy the list say, every twelve months, so it depends on when they do that when they'll get your address.
hopefully you don't also have the problem we have, in that sat navs and google maps don't know where our postcode actually is and keep sending people down a dead end two streets over. sky man was not impressed lol x xLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

Our daughter moved into a new build block of flats. We got things sorted by giving the utility companies the serial numbers of the meters and they traced things that way.0
