Overseas buyer wanting to claim item not received after 11 days -is this possible?

Item was sent to Spain on the 23rd. It is worth £200 and was sent signed for with tracking number (thank goodneess). Post office lady told me it would track in the UK but not in SPain.

A buyer who I could tell would be awkward from the off has been hassling me after 4 days for the item and now says if she doesn't receive them on tuesday - 11 days after they were posted she is putting in a claim with Ebay. She admits herself that Spain had a strike last week for 2 days, giving the item only 5 working days to arrive but still will not wait.

What will be Ebay's stance on this ? I have the receipt of postage but it is not tracking on the Spanish Correios website but the Royal mail track and trace says that it was passed on to the Spanish post. I fully believe they will turn up but she just has to wait. At what time point would she be eligible to get her money back and how would Ebay view her claim?

Yes she could claim though it will take a week or so for it to process so it may arrive in the meantime..

Not to worry you but no royal mail service guarantees tracking once the item has left the UK. So it could arrive and you still could not be tracked and lose a dispute. As the item is worth more than £150 even if it tracks you could lose a dispute as you need an online signature to prove delivery for seller protection

All I hope is it arrives and the buyer is honest. Also I hope the item was insured for enough. Next time if you wish full tracking for a high priced item to be sent out of the UK you need to look into couriers.

Thanks. Do Ebay make her wait a certain period of time before they will accept a claim? Surely she can't claim after 11 days(5 business days).

It's as cyberbob says, hopefully the buyer is just an impatient one and the item will arrive while the claim is open. You usually have 10 days from the time the claim opens before paypal force a refund, unless you can meanwhile prove delivery and show a signature online. The signature bit is purely because the item was over £150, otherwise merely tracking to the address that paypal showed as OK to send to would have been enough. I'm sure someone will be along in a moment to show you how to track on the Spanish site as paypal may accept that if it tracks to a signature viewable online.

However, assuming you took the enhanced insurance with your tracking , as standard international signed for and airsure only cover up to £41, you do have a claim with RM. Unfortunately anecdotally it can be a difficult claim as RM can prove with tracking that it left the country, but always worth being persistent.

She can get her money back 10 days after opening a paypal claim. You can start your claim for loss with RM 20 working days after item was sent.

Airsure to Spain has a suggested delivery time of 1 day faster than standard airmail and standard airmail is suggested to be around 3 working days for Western Europe, although of course we all know of times it has taken longer.
