The bags contain homemade gift tags (I always make my own from last year's cards but always have loads left over and suddenly thought of giving them as a pressie!), a 'hot drinks for cold days' pack using freebies and Whittards hot choc I got when mystery shopping, homemade chocolate truffles and chocolate-covered marzipan, and homemade mince pies.
I used my 5 year old son's wiggly scissors (from a pack of 2 from Tesco - c. £2, I think?) to cut the edges of the card, with stickers/bow/picture I cut out of the top of a stickers packet to decorate. Very, very pleased with the results.
The other two bits at the top are a jar of homemade mincemeat and a mini homemade Christmas pudding. Very pleased with how they look too! :-)0 -
Thanks! I'm really pleased with how professional they look. Plus, for the chocolates, which I do every year, it's loads cheaper than buying gift boxes at Clintons or wherever!
Spent this morning making gingerbread men (and other Christmassy shapes) with DS and we're about to go and decorate them with a little pack of different coloured icing tubes I got in Tesco's baking sale - then will package up six of the big gingerbread men individually as DS's presents to the various members of the family. I think they'll be thrilled to bits!I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

Can anyone please explain to me the difference between PVA glue and the hot glue guns? I just use PVA or double sided tape and wondered if it was worth investing in a glue gun. Thanks!Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0

Doh - On;y realised half way through the recipe that I was making gingerBREAD rather than gingerbread. A runny mix that you pour into a baking tray and cut into squares after cutting. So my plan for gingerbread trees will have to wait for next year. Am going to have to decorate squares with icing and put them in bags instead I suppose0

Hi ladies
I have been awol for an age but life isn't plain sailing & I am on the roughest seas ever!
I did manage to make some ES choc puddings though however my SU circle punch is now not cutting as sharply as I'd like. One edge has a rough finish & you can see the fibres of the cardstock/paper used, looks like I've pulled the shape off the cutter. Not hugely I confess but enough for me to know notice & care. It was fine as first & I only cut about 80 shapes in all.
Any ideas of what I can do to sharpen it back up?0 -
Hi Hogshead, whilst watching an highly addictive TV channel that gives me way too many ideas, and so little time
... They gave some hints about your punches.
* One - Cut kitchen foil to re-sharpen your blades ...
* Two - Cut greaseproof or waxed paper if your punches get stiff ...
Not tried either as I have no punches, so do let us know if it does work please(I was given £40 of vouchers for HobbyCraft for Christmas!!! :j)

Thanks will give that a go later, plenty of both foil & greaseproof at home.0

Dark chocolate - cheap one works fine
Extra strong mints
Bash up mints to bits
Melt chocolate
Stir mints in - spread on tray or use molds - fridge to set
Yummy after dinner mints - did these for Xmas last year and my folks were very impressed!!!!
Thank you very much for this, Made some the other day whilst stuck at home because of the snow......
Took half to work yesterday and went in a blinding flash :rotfl: Everyone wanted to know where I got it from, and they were even more surprised when I said I had made it.
