    Hi ladies!

Back on to check in with you all! :)

As always love the makes people have done! the fairy sweet bags are lovely!!

I had my first fair on Sat with my mum, it went oook i guess! we made our stall money back but not a great amount after that! :s

I think part of the problem was our stall layout/design! I covered the table with nice christmasy tablecloths but unless people came over to look they wouldn't of really known what we were selling. I had prices for everything, i made wee signs which sat infront of the items but i think they were just too wee!

I used some boxes under the tablecloth to set things higher but it still didn't look "great" i just wasn't happy with it, and i know i wouldn't of been attracted to it if i was walking past! :(

Can anyone give me any ideas / tips for making it look good and attracting the buyers?

I have thought about making some signs but I don't want them having to many things to read either, as I don't think that would look good!

Selling various things, cards, snowman malllows, penguin poop, pint of socks, cupcake socks etc etc!

I sold out of pints of socks, i only took 6 as i wasn't sure how many i'd sell!

Does anyone know of anyother ideas for men like the pint of socks, which are very clever but cheap/easy to make??

    Im lost for ideas!!

Got my pots of gold for this week, not sure how they will go down!

It often takes a few goes before you're happy with your table.

Was there a table belonging to someone else that you admired and thought looked good? Write down what you think made it stand out that you could then copy? Similarly, was there a bad table there, what things made it bad. Make sure you are not doing the same. What didn't you like about yours - or are you having trouble analising this? Did you take a photo?

It's nice to make it look christmasssy, but sometimes a plain background makes your items stand out. I used to use a plain black cloth or at Christmas a plain red or green one to make it look christmassy. You had the right idea to add height by placing boxes underneath. I also like items arranged in little baskets with a nice clear label saying what they are and price. If you are doing stalls regularly maybe laminate a nice christmassy label and then just write on with whiteboard marker, so labels can be re-used for any item. Attatch to your baskets with a nice bulldog clip.

With regards to making money it's a bit hit and miss as to whether the right people/enough people will turn up and how well organised it is. At least you covered your costs and probably learned a few things about what sold and what didn't , and why.
HTH (Sorry there's a lot of analising there- it's my job hehe:o)

    Hi All

    So sorry
I have not been on, I have been very very busy, with full time work, kids, housework etc and loads of crafting, I got to the car boot on Sunday and sold around £69!! I got orders from the toddlers for £51, orders from a box of samples I have left in the village chemist (so far totalling £64) and got word last night that the craft fair I was trying to get into on 27th had a cancellation so I will be off there on Saturday, most popular items (in no particular order) are:-

Tea Bag & Coffee Cards (Thanks Craftygranny)
    Snowman Soup
    Magic Reindeer Food
    Snowman soup in cones
    Doggy Stocking Fillers
Not had much bite on the ES mints. penguin poop, snowman poop or snow balls at all :( and they are the things that took me aaagess!!
Dairy Milk Miniatures went (albeit slowly)
Pots of Gold, I made 20 and sold 8 at the car boot so will keep the rest for Saturday!!

So I will stock up on these things for Saturday. Hope you are all doing well BFN x

  • I am having trouble getting into Christmas Fairs - all fully booked. Have 2 booked and have been turned away from 5... so running out of options. I left it late as my gran passed away so I wasnt even in the country and now I'm back its too late!!!

Any other suggestions of where else I can sell? I made tonnes of stuff in prep for 'all the fairs I'll be doing' and now I need to make sure it starts selling!
I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!
2010 was the worst year ever :(
But 2011 so far has been a lot of fun! :j

I would just like to say a massive thanks to anyone and everyone who has input on this thread and helped me personally with queries - school fayre at my sons school today - sold £220 worth - donated £30 of it to school rest mine! Well not sure how much of that is actual profit but I dont care any the less!!! Sock cupcakes went in a flash as did reindeer face cloths, they were priced to sell mind you ate £2 for cupcakes and £2.25 for reindeers but still - there is quite a bit left but only cos I made masses - and I got satisfaction from everyone saying how lovely they were - I accredited to you all with the compliments obviously! Just spurred me on to do more but going to have a well earned rest tonight after kids gone to bed - might even order a curry with my takings!!
    Thanks ladies

My table was ever so basic because it was school but I did put everything in baskets with a label on the front saying what it was and what it contained - I then did little circle punches with the price written on and stuck in one corner of the front of the basket -0 it stoppped people asking me what was in the reindeer and snowman soup and how much everything was - it also displayed one big list of prices too strategically.

Dont get disheartened - Im sure your next one will be better takings wise - concentrate on what you did sell and the satisfaction that brought you - easy to say I know but it does all depend on who turns up and what they're looking for - :) Smile - you should be proud you sold some of your items, even if it wasnt all.
