.....my craft room/ corner is a mess!!! since only taking this up recently I don't have a "proper" space. In the spare room upstairs i have put a table and bar that everything is in boxes on the ground!! its awful!! i can't find anything that I need and always forget what I have because I have to go hunting for it!

Now to make matters worse in that room the roof is slanted so i can't really put shelves up :( not at the min anyway... so I need to try get drawers or something to get organised! cos the mess is putting me off! What does everyone else do??

I have googled craft rooms and in images there are some lovely ones!!! IF ONLY we could all do that!! lol

Any ideas are welcome!! :) that don't cost the earth because im proper skint from buyin so much stash!!! lol :) HEEELLLLPPPP!!!
Hya Curly...I am still trying to bring all my crafting stuff together in one place...I am amazed by how much I have accumulated all over the house!!! You are lucky to have access to a spare room...I don't unfortunately, but I do "have" a shed!! At the moment it is full of loads of stuff(junk/car-boot bits and bobs), including a king-size mattress, so there's definitely no room for me and my stuff there yet!! So I have taken over a corner of the conservatory and the dining table there. I can manage OK atm, but when DS1 comes back from Uni, I am stumped. Can't use his room just now as DS2 is in there while we sort out his room....musical rooms anyone?? :rotfl:

I am trying to sort out my stuff into boxes, be they cardboard or plastic. Shoe boxes are great as you can stack them easily and can write on the ends whats inside them. Margarine and ice-cream tubs are good too. I am keeping my face and eye moisturiser jars (OoU) to keep fiddly things like beads and the like in. You make have probs getting shoe boxes at this time of year as the Christmas Box appeals are running now...but you can always ask! :D I have 4 under-bed plastic storage boxes, bought from one of our cheapie shops years ago, they are brill!! I could probably get a few more under my bed if I try :o. I have my wool in carrier bags (bags for life kind) to keep them clean...and find homes for them in every corner I can find!!!

I have two trunks up in the loft full of craft-stuff (well material/wool etc), and want to get them down and stored somewhere more accessible...not sure where yet ;)...my shed perhaps??? It is pretty damp-proof out there, but I want to get it better protected (waterproofed and insulated) before using it for all my crafting activities....I can but dream...and plan!!!

Don't know if that has really helped you I'm afraid...a set of drawers or shelves would be good to store your boxes tubs in/on. Perhaps writing labels on the boxes and a list of the contents of each box would help??

Good luck with everything...perhaps we can get sorted together :rotfl:

I have got nothing done in almost 2 weeks now, bar one card!!!! but still i keep on buying things!! SLAP for me!!

  • Hi Funnyfreckle - I got the holly confetti a while ago - from one of those rotary displays they have in card shops .... I am sure they are still around, I was scratting around for something to go on my puddings .... and suddenly remembered them.

As for the miniatures - I think they are a bit hard to find - my last lot were from Wolverhampton Home Bargains and B M bargains.

Well I had a go at wrapping some CDM miniatures today, using double sided tape.

The blinking stuff won't stay stuck!!

As I didn't have any tiny stickers I decided to decorate with pens. I am sooooo not artistic.
Anyway I have put letters on each one to spell out the names of my Grandsons, and as they are only 3 and 1 I don't suppose they'll mind.

Was going to do them for adults, but may just stick to the larger bars.
Is there a trick to wrapping neatly and sticking the paper down please?

Thought I would try decorating a few pegs with Sharpie pens. The ink ran!!

Think I should stick to sewing.

Thanks for the lovely comments about the snowman soup i made everyone however the template is flyingpigs NOT mine so i can't take any credit.

She is far more talented than me with a computer:D!!. I'm sure she won't mind letting you have a copy but it wouldn't be right for me to give it out as its not mine.

I have put a sachet of hot chocolate, a candy stick, mini marshmallows and pink smarties in mine and used 2 pieces of card and the poem to sandwich the items then punched holes and tied it all with ribbon.

    OMG
thelight bulb has, just come on..............doh

head is to full of wondering if i can get take that tickets friday morning, because i've managed to get the morning off work.

Me too Saint Chris, but I've took all day off as I will be quite stressed out afterwards I think!!! :D

cuddles, I have taken a scrap of A4 craft paper and measured around 1 bar, then cut it out and used that as a template for all the others, to ensure they were all the right size. I've used double sided tape, piece in the middle and then 2 smaller pieces, 1 at either end. make sure that the tape is as close to the edge as you can possibly get it without it showing. if you measure the wrappers the right size then they will fit around the chocolate bar tightly enough not to fall off but loose enough to be pulled off to enjoy! As you can see with the reindeers and snowmen I did, I made them a bit longer at either end and then ribbed the paper. This gives a neat finish, plus helps them to stick together!!!

I'm making some more of the kit kat ones tonight so will try and put on a tutorial like flyingpig has done with hers, if that will help? :o
You're so very special, I wish I was special

Try your local freecycle group. I have had all manner of storage things from ours, shelves, boxes, tins ...all for free and you'll be amazed at what you can get. Ask if anyone has a small cupboard or chest of drawers they can spare. It doesn't matter what style as you can always customise it. I use baby milk tins to store various embellishments and shoe boxes are also a cheap way to house bits and pieces. There are tonnes of options without having to buy anything.

People asking about holly confetti. One of the card making magazine out now, in WHSmiths (sorry, forgot to note which one it is)has a (very) small pink punch free with it. There is a choice of Holly, A Christmas Tree or a Snowflake. Maybe not the cheapest option, some of the card magazines are around £4, but it will probably have other good christmas crafts in it too. ;)

  • I'm no great shakes when it comes to drawing snowmen but I thought I would make a couple of snowman soup mugs for Christmas Eve.

I've used these pens £2.99 each from Hobbycrafts and the mugs were 3 in a pack for a pound from Poundworld. You have to leave to dry for abour 24hr and then put in the oven for 40mins - but full instructions are on the pens. They should be dishwasher proof after that ...... fingers crossed.
