park direct limited PCC

Hey ppl

I received a PCC for an alleged parking offence at Ealing train station where i stopped for less than a minute, got out of the car, greeted friends, they got in and drove off.

Have now received Park Direct Ltd PPC notice #2 with threats to go to debt collectors.

How certain is they can't really follow through on their threats / process in general?

I spoke to them and asked them if they have full CCTV coverage of the alleged parking offence (they posted two flattering images for them, first one is at an angle where you can't see me behind the wheel so it looks 'parked' and for the second one i am standing outside the car and opening the back door).

she tried to dodge the question, I then asked her if our next step is going to court and she replied it's going to debt collectors next. Apparently there is full cctv coverage of the offence, she said they had a "sign" there that states no stopping of any kind can take place on their land.

What happens next? How can they go to debt collectors and issue fines w/o a legal process?

    Hi coda

They can't go to a debt collector as there is no debt here - it needs to go to court before a debt can exist, however, like all the other PPC firms, they realise they'll be laughed out of court so just rely on intimidation and scare tactics and use letterheads to make it look like it's a debt collection agency. Not one of the cases from the first post has gone to court yet... strange huh?

I've had one of these and after three letters from the PPC threatening court action, bailiffs, credit record entries, etc. they realised I wasn't going to pay up and just went away, tail between legs.

Just to check though, does your correspondence make any mention to railway by-laws?

@Crabman: it's identical to the letter template posted above. Also posted here: http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=55256&st=0&gopid=512685&#entry512685 and same conclusions, they say it's a known spot and have never gone to court. no mention of by-laws in the letter

That's good news for you then - you can just ignore their rubbish. The Pepipoo posts are spot on as usual - these scammers rely on people buckling under the pressure of their threats and scare tactics.

Some people send the letters to their local trading standards as the Birmingham TS raided a couple of clamping firms not too long ago based on the number of consumer complaints. The more evidence they have, the better.
  • Hi ya

I got a ticket in post from Park Direct Ltd only two days ago. I was fined for the stopping in their parking bay outside Ealing Broadway station almost 3 months ago. Still the same game plays, IGNORE? Is it a mistake that today I wrote to them a kind of appeal? As I only found out now it should be ignored. Your advice is much appreciated.
