I have Cyclamen that was given to my husband as a thank you 3 years ago at christmas.

It is still in the same pot. I water once in a while from the bottom.

It is left on my kitchen window sill all year round even though it gets the sun all afternoon during the summer.

Yes it does look a little forlorn during the summer as it dies off. But it is now starting to look better as the leaves start to come back.

I think my husband is the only one who still has his Cyclamen as everyone else did like most people chuck them once they start to die back.

    Yours

    Borrr-ing update I know but. . . ;)

I still can't get over this. The cyclamen lasted in full bloom (30 flowers? Had to be) right through Christmas and January, and then a couple of weeks back showed every sign of, um, hibernating.

It shed all its leaves bar 10 (I've just counted those that are left) and it has stopped growing flowers bar one that's still there plus a tiny little thing no more than half an inch high that's just, well, standing there, not opening but not dying off, either.

Thanks again to everyone here for all the advice they provided: husband says it'll soon be time to buy an orchid (though he's nervous that "his" plant is just having a well-earned rest, and not about to die away forever.) Personally, I'm thinking it could out-live us both. :)
  • So you mean, it's done what it is supposed to do?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
