EDF Energy - Energy Discount Plan Version 3 tariff
Hi
Im new to this so apologise if I'm not posting correctly.
I have received a letter from EDF energy asking if I wanted to change to the Energy Discount Plan Version 3 tariff with EDFI have read through the info and it is confusing, I don't know if I am going to save money in the long run or not??!
Can anyone advise?
I have lost all trust in electricity and Gas suppliers since NPower have charged me nearly £900 for a gas meter which wasn't mine even though I have been telling them since Nov 09 and a debt collection letter came on my doorstep couple of weeks ago for the £900!! Nearly had a heart attack even though I knew I didn't owe the money it was extremely stressful. I have also been trying to transfer to another supplier since Oct 09 but they wouldn't let me and I think finally it should be sorted in the next month.....then again they said that last time!
Thanks and sorry about the rant at the end!

Hi catcurly
I received the same letter today about changing to this tariff. I am currently already with EDF Energy and in the letter they have quoted that by changing I will be paying less per unit of electricity than the tariff I'm already on. But it looks like if I do sign up I am locked into a year contract with them and will have to pay £25 if I wanted to switch suppliers before the year ends.
I wasn't really sure if I should sign up and was really hoping other people had any opinions or advise too

It's £25 early termination fee per supply, so £50 if you have both gas and electric.
They say it's discounted from their 'standard' tariff but there are so many tariffs I'm not sure what I'm on! It smells a bit like a lock-in to me.
Maybe time to have another gander at a comparison website. I used to pay about £10 a month, now paying about £20 for electric. Time to start turning the light off when I'm watching telly, and learn to type in the dark too.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I've received this too, and it is very telling that these letters starting going out a few days after it was quietly announced EDF will no longer be partnering with Nectar. Their connection with Nectar ends in december, when Nectar's new partner will be British Gas.
Nectar are the only reason I'm with EDF, and so I'm likely to move to British Gas in 2011 as long as their tariff's are the same / cheaper. But if I'd gone with this tie-in, I wouldn't be because it would have cost me £50 to leave EDF.
I'd imagine British Gas/Nectar will be bringing out some tempting offers by December 2010.0 -

I am so glad I read your post, I was going to sign up to EDF's energy discount plan 3, if I had done this I would have been locked in for another 12 months. I didn't know that EDF and Nectar were no longer going to partner each other, have EDF made this clear to their customers? it's one of the reasons why I use EDF because of the nectar points....sneaky b*****s.....:(0
