How do I uninstall/remove router and reinstall

AS the title.

A friend had a new router installed by another friend but I would like to remove and install again as it seems to have glitches. Even when you try and access the router control panel the screen just keeps flashing on and off so impossible to log in.

So is it a programme but I can't see in control panel or where do I get to it to take off?

its not normally a program , you enter it by entering an IP adress like 192.168.1.1 , depends on the make and model of the router

If it's a Netgear, you can reset it to factory default by holding the reset button (eg. with a biro) for 10 sec whilst you power it on. (I think that's the procedure - I did it last week.)

Assuming your PC is set to get its address automatically and it and the router are on your network, restart your PC. (Alternatively before rebooting, you can check its address by opening a command window - enter "cmd" in the Start menu search box - and typing "ipconfig".)

After that, open a browser to 192.168.0.1; the default password may be on a label on the router (on my Netgear the default user/password is admin/password, and on a Sky branded one it's admin/sky)..

Is there a reset button on the router? (normally a depressed switch so you need a pen or sumething)?

Yes and assume this may be the answer but I was holding back until the guy who installs it returns the CD which for some reason he took away with him???

It is a Belkin router and I just DO NOT like Belkin routers!!

There is no CD for Routers. If there is, it only contains junk.

Routers are just plug and play.

If it works like a router from netgear then holding the reset button down for around 10-15 seconds or so should restore its factory settings.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

  • I'm not sure that instructions for a Netgear router will help when trying to reset a Belkin router.

Anyway, the link below shows you how to perform a hardware reset:

Flashing screen sounds very odd. Have you tried with a different PC, or an alternative browser (Firefox/Chrome/Safari/Opera)?
