Basic Rate Tax Code and 2 jobs

Hi,
I've been taxed the basic rate (BR) for the last year as a teacher, and I also receive a carer's allowance for looking after my mother. I believe I am being taxed too much as my take home pay seems far too low and comparable to my partner who earns less but has a similar take-home pay.
How do I go about rectifying this and getting the correct tax code, and who I do contact? As I work in the public sector do I speak to them or my local HMRC
Thanks

The carers allowance is taxable and with the maximum you are allowed to earn whilst receiving it being £100 per week then your total taxable income would be around £8k which would be a net income of £620 (£233 from carers and £387 from wages)
If you are earning more than £100 per week you should not be receiving carers allowance
