Well looks like im the only one that would recommend one, my son got one last year, he's 4 now and will happily spend a long time playing with this, got him some extra books too, he's just starting to learn to read at school and hopefully this will help him.0

DS has a leap pad ( the one with the writing ) and lots of the books. I got them all off ebay, the books are usually between £2..50 and £4 there. DS does use it, but I am glad I didn't spend lots on it.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0

My DD had one and wasn't interested. If your LO won't play with her toys whilst her older brother does his homework, would she watch a dvd/listen to an audio book or colour a picture instead whilst you supervise him? How much homework (timewise) is he getting btw?
Thanks, he has reading for about half an hour, and does literature for about half an hour, this is an addition to the normal homework because they have found a problem and we are correcting it asap, hence the need to give him the attention.

You know DD best, do toys she likes keep her attention over weeks?
I think the key is to get a variety of things. I've never used tag and don't know if it's any good. DS (6) has a Leapster 2 and has loved playing with that for over 2 years now - I think tag would be a good progression for a girl who loves books, but needs to give mum time to help DS.
Does she engage with audio books? As they're great too - both mine have been amused for years by them. Can often pick up cheap Disney ones in The Works and others at the Book people, and out library has a good selection. We also used to record favourite books onto the computer, then download onto CDs for car journeys.
And there are loads of stories on the internet that can be read to you.
And Tag could be a good option as well! Remember ebay is your friend...!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
