Unexplained and puzzling dismissal

I am rather new to posts as this is my first one, but i thought i could share a recent experience that happened to me last week and to warn everyboby.
I am a housepartner again after two weeks of work in a fabric shop. As far as i was concerned everything was fine, the boss seemed to appreciate me and my hard work along with the fact that i was nice to customers.
Nevertheless without warning on Friday as the shop was closing down he asked to go a bit earlier. i thought it was great at first as i would have no trouble to make it on time , for once, to the after school club to pick my son up. But as i was gathering my bag and coat I said : alright have a nice weekend and i will see you Monday. He then told me that it would not be necessary as i was not coming back Monday, in fact never again. I asked him why and he just said: "you did not reach our expectations".
What??? i asked him what he expected exactly but did not get any answer at all and was shown the door along with my paycheck.
i did make it to the after school club and paid them for the two weeks. But to be honest i am still puzzled about the way i was treated.
Since Friday i have been searching the internet in quest for explanation and Ho surprise : "An employer has the right to dismiss anybody within their first month of employment without having to give a reason".
So beware people out there, some employers do use the system rather roughly.
my son is pleased i make it on time for school now.But it has been a very expensive experience.
See you soon.

I have been on the recieving end of this type of thing from a previous employer.
I have also had to tell several people not to come back, and also had to explain to an irate mother all the chances I gave her son and listed about 5 different episodes over 3 days, at the end of it she even said thanks. It's very hard to tell someone their son is a liability and shouldn't be alowed to pick up a screwdriver (even under close supervision)
As things go you are probably better out of it- if the guy can't be bothered to give you any feedback.baldly going on...0 -
How awful for you, he should have at least given you a reason, or explained his reasons why you werent suitable.
similar happened to me a good few years ago, I was under the time limit at the time for 'unfair dismissal', but I got him on other things, its too long to go into, but he fancied me, and wouldnt leave me alone, after months of this I had to tell him to leave me alone, or I would have to take it further.
Since I said that he made my life hell, and in the end he sacked me, he came out with a load of rubbish, and yet I had been there well over a year.
I couldnt let him get away with it, I had no witnesses, (I did), but they were struck deaf dumb and blind, so I had to go it on my own.
Needless to say, I came out rather well, and it gave me the push to start up my own business, as I was the only female in an all male builders firm, the men I worked with were great and treated me well, it was the flippen boss that was the trouble.:eek:0
