Jet2 booking & card fees

Can someone else just read this for me and confirm if im right in thinking i'm going to have a 5.75% fee on top for booking & payment by credit card. Seems a bit ott to me but guess thats where they make their money!!

Booking fees A booking fee of 3.5% (minimum charge of 4.99GBP/ 7EUR/ 10CHF/ 180CZK/ 30PLN) will be applied to all card payments except for Solo and Visa Electron which are free. For bookings made using PayPal the booking fee is 3.49GBP/ 5.00EUR.
Payment fees Payment made by credit card or PayPal incur an additional fee of 2.25% or 1.5% respectively.

THANKS folks x

But you can avoid the charges by getting a Halifax easycash account - will also save you money with easyJet, Thomson, flythomascook, flybe.

do you mean just pay from a current account? i think as well with jet 2 you can just pay a deposit & the rest later. if thats the case i'd probably be able to do that by the time the remainder was due. thanks for that

After having just tried to find a price with Jet2 I doubt I'll bother again.

Since we first went with them the whole booking system has become so confusing that even when you get to the point of having to enter your card details you still don't know how much you are going to pay! Sorry, but I don't give my card to the shopkeeper until I know the bill.

I would just say that we went to Majorca recently from Newcastle, I compared Jet2 & Easyjet, flying and returning about the same times.

Initially Jet2 were £16 cheaper, but by the time they wanted to charge me for the seats, a bookng fee(why?) and other bits & pieces they turned out to be about £60 dearer in the end!

know what you mean, ive only ever been easyjet to spain & outside peak school hols so pay around £350 for 4 of us return ncl to malaga- flights this year with easyjet are almost £1000 & rubbish times- leaving 5:15pm so thats the day there wasted & on way back leaving 9pm but of course have to be out of the accomodation by 10am so with 2 kids, luggage etc for nigh on 11 hours- maybe not. Jet 2 times are much better but still around £1070. 5.75% booking fee & 20 quid for booking in online (which is the cheap option!) dont help. we can get it down to 2 bags for hold luggage but its hard paying this much when no where near what i'd normally fork out. I know though, peak times etc. Ive looked at flying other airlines & from other destinations & even to other destinations to get connecting flights but no cheaper at all. I cant see anyway around it sadly!

  • To avoid the booking charge you can get a virtual electron card immediately from https://www.entropay.com. They also offer a pre paid mastercard too, meaning that both bases are covered to minimise booking fees with budget airlines.
