Decree Nisi/Absolute?

My friend is going through a divorce at the moment and has been advised (by her very unhelpful solicitor) that the papers were lodged at the court last week for the decree nisi. Can anyone answer any of the following questions: 1. who applies for the decree absolute and when (is it 6 weeks and 1 day) 2. do you get…

I am not as concerned about the absolute as the consent order. I may sound mercenary but I really really need the settlement!

I hadnt thought about starting negotiations.. as I was just a bystander really.. XH is divorcing me and paying all the costs.. i don't even have a soliciter and represented myself as everything was agreed between us.

It has been an eyeopener and I hope the OP has been given some good advice for their friend.
