I am not as concerned about the absolute as the consent order. I may sound mercenary but I really really need the settlement!
I hadnt thought about starting negotiations.. as I was just a bystander really.. XH is divorcing me and paying all the costs.. i don't even have a soliciter and represented myself as everything was agreed between us.
It has been an eyeopener and I hope the OP has been given some good advice for their friend.
