Right i will start from the beginning.
I have just bought a cheap projector from China for my student apartment as i watch films mainly. I am trying to set up an old DVD player with surround sound speakers to the Projector so the sound can play via those speakers. But no sound is coming out! I have connected it via the cable with the Red, White and Yellow colouring and also via a headphone socket cable with the three colour wires on the end.
I also wanting the speakers to play the sound from the movies when i am playing it from my Macbook Pro Laptop! I will be linking up my laptop to the projector via a HDMI cable!
Any help, tips, guide would be great!

So you have a projector, a dvd/amp combo, and a MacBook Pro.
You're connecting the yellow, white, red plugs (composite) from the DVD box to the projector? Are you sure it's an output from the box? And you shouldn't be connecting the red & white, they're for sound, which you want to come out of the speakers. Also, that yellow cable is a low quality way to carry a picture. HDMI, DVI, VGA, RGB SCART, S-Video are all better.
MacBook Pro - You want to check if the box has an optical digital input, if so, you can get a TOSLINK optical cable, with 3.5mm optical at one end, to go in the laptop's headphone socket. If not, just a 3.5mm to phono (that's small headphone to red and white) will carry the sound to your dvd box.0
