I'd check out some reviews first - the 12v ones aren't brilliant at cooling to household fridge levels.0

You cant leave them running whilst the engine is off either, Kills the battery very quickly.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

A coolbox is just what it says.
Things usually have to be pre cooled in the house fridge first, and they will stay that way once put inside the coolbox. I used to use one in my hgv, and got it from the local camping shop, which is now part of Go Outdoors.

Keep an eye out in 'cheapo shops' like home bargains and B&M etc, they sometimes have them cheap.0

Some cars allow as an optional extra to route the aircon air into the glovebox to keep things cool, I don't know if your looking for something that's "cool" or "cold" though.
If my car didn't have the above, then i'd personally go with a small 230v AC chiller (beer fridge or something) connected to a DC/AC inverter (camping shops), this will be capable of far greater power output than coming straight from the cars 12v supply and with a 230v chiller, do a far better job.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

A coolbox and some freezer bricks are normally enough to keep anything we need cool enough to get to our destination. I'd not waste the money on a fridge for the car, tbh.
also we freeze things that can be frozen before putting them into the coolbox, so while the ham or tins of juice wouldn't be frozen the bottles of water or juice would, depending on how long we were driving for , of course. We'd only really freeze things if it was more than 6 hours or thereabouts.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Totally forgot about that.
I marshal at motorsport meetings, and in the summer I do just that, freeze water, dilute squash etc, and it can stay that way for up to about 6-8 hours. That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
Most coldboxes are fine for days out. Very borderline on overnight trips depending on the ambient temperature. If you want a proper fridge type coldbox then expect to pay £100+ from a caravan shop. The man without a signature.0
