Changing from BT phone line to AOL problems

For over 2 years now I've been getting broadband from AOL & phone line from BT. I recently had a call from AOL offering me both & it worked out cheaper. I agreed & I've just received a letter from BT saying that they estimate I will need to pay £24.50 in termination charges.

I have spoken to a friend of mine who recently did the same. They said that they didn't have to pay anything & AOL just changed them over.

Are they trying it on or do I actually owe them this money?

    When does your BT contract end?
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
