I'm on Scottish Power Online energy 7 which ends in 1 months time on 1st November. There is a penalty for switching before this date but I remember reading on here that SPW allow you to switch without penalty in the last month. Is this correct?

Also, is it possible to swap to SPW's online energy 11 tariff or is this a case of new customers only?

No response so I've decided to switch suppliers.

If I switch now it will take upto 6 weeks to switch suppliers. My current deal with Scottish Power finishes on 1st November. What tariff do I go onto on 1st November until my switch goes through? If its the standard(expensive) tariff, am I allowed to switch to say the online tariff for the remaining period until my switch of suppliers goes through?

Maybe the scottish power company representavive can answer?

9 days since we both made request for response from the Scottish Power rep on here to this (I would have thought) fairly simple question.

Any chance of an answer in the immediate future?

    Hi wakeupalarm / Boxman

Sorry for the delay in replaying to this one. I was on annual leave when the original post was directed my way.

Transferring supplier can take between 4 and 6 weeks to complete from the point of the initial application. If you make an application to transfer a couple of weeks before your expiry date and you do not cancel any payment plan that you currently have in place, then I do not see how we can justify applying a cancellation charge to your account. It is more than likely that you are paying by monthly Direct Debit and if you were to make an application to transfer supplier before your expiry date, then cancel your monthly Direct Debit, you will be charged a cancellation charge as the original contract will be for monthly Direct Debit payments only.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Kind Regards

Thanks for the reply Colin, trust you had a good break. I am currently on the SP tariff which gives online and dual fuel discounts and with my agreement, as I said am locked in until 1st December. What tariff will SP apply after that date and will I be locked in at all?

Getting an answer to a simple, straightforward question to the SP rep is like pulling teeth!

    Hi Boxman

I hope it's not as painful as pulling teeth. I don't have long to review this forum but I will obvioulsy need to review how I am working this at the moment so that I do not miss replies to my original posts. Again, I apologise for the delay.

For all customer's that are on a contract rate with SP, you will be notified either in writing or by email on the offers following the expiry of your current contract. I do not have this information for you unfortunately. This information is normally provided to you a few weeks before your expiry date.

    Kind Regards
