Went to old address

Hi!

We've just moved house, but my boyfriend payed for something on ebay. He gave the seller our new address, but has not yet changed it n his ebay account. The seller has still sent the package to our old address. We've only just moved out, so I don't think anyone is living there yet, and our neighbours used to take post in for us when we were there. It's been signed for, so I don't know how we can find out who has signed for it. But we're gonna have to go up there tonight and go round all the neighbours to see if anyone took it in!

Posting on here cause I was hoping someone could tell me how we find out who has signed for it! Not that they HAVE to use their real name or anything, but we can see which neighbour it would be as they're all lovely and honest up there.

Thanks!

If it was recorded signed for then you should be able to contact the po and ask where it was signed for - they should then be able to give you the house number that signed for it....I think

What service was used - was it Royal Mail recorded or special delivery? If its Royal mail recorded it will only show as signed for and you have to pay for them to tell you who signed for it - or you could try ringing and see if they will tell you. Are you having your old mail redirected at all? Have you tried phoining your neighbours (only one or two) to see if they have taken it in.

However I can understand that the seller sent it to the old address if that is what was on paypal.

  • We're getting our mail redirected so I don't think it will have been with royal mail. Can also understand how it went to old address, silly OH!

    Lol, men eh?!!

Did the seller specify which option he was using or are you able to find out from the seller what he used?

If it was a large parcel, normaly delivered by Royal Mail drivers, they are normally not aware of a redirection, only the normal Postman on the walk your old address is on. A quirk of the system.
This happens because the Royal Mail don't expect the customer to have a parcel that was ordered sent the the old address.
  • Just giving a quick update on this!

We looked at the signature online, and it had been signed in my boyfriend's name. So we phoned them up, they phoned the driver who delivered it 2 days ago, and rang us back. Apparently, my boyfriend had left a signed note stuck to the door saying that we wanted any parcels to be left around the back. We told them this was strange, as we'd been up to the house and there were no parcels round the back, and also we hadn't lived in that house for over 2 weeks so why would we leave a note on the door?? No one else up there knows his name so they wouldn't be able to stick a note there in his name and steal our parcels if they wanted to, lol. So obviously the driver has left it in the garden, and is covering his own back by saying we'd left a note there. Funny how he can remember everything about it even though it was 2 days ago and I'm sure he delivers alot in a day!

So they're gonna ring us back tomorrow, he told them he'd go back for the parcel and for the note on the door, though we went up to the house the day the parcel was delivered and there was no note or parcel then!
