Wonder if anyone knows recognises this fault on 42"LG LCD app 3yrs old
Stand by light would come on but flash back & forth to green power light until eventually working (2 weeks ago)
Now (after turning it off with remote) takes about 10mins plus to get red light to come and that's it..no green light & no picture.
Repair/Replace?
TIA

OP, try posting on AV Forums. They have a member who represents LG, and might be able to help.
Possible pcb problem, but ask there and you might be lucky0 -

Unfortunately that's a classic power board failure symptom. I had it on a Sammy about a year ago and replaced the capacitor myself for a cost of £1:80 from Maplins.
You are / were probably also getting a ' clicking ' noise also when it back & forth between Red & Green are / were you ?
The going rate for a power board replacement by a TV eng is £150-£200
UNDERSTANDING
When you switch on the TV at the mains it charges up capacitors [ standby ], when the capacitors are charged enough they allow you to switch on the TV with the remote. A power board failure just means that the capacitors are weak / blown and they can't hold enough power to make the switch on happen.
Hope this helps your understanding !Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Thanks for the explaination (someone's been talking I think! :rotfl:)
Grateful for the price guide too..OH wouldn't wait & went & bought a new one anyway, at this point I'm glad he can't fix this sort of thing considering the cost of the part needed!)
Cheers to you both for replies! :A

Look it's not rocket science, honest. He [ the OH ] can fix it, the pro's will properly buy and install a whole / complete power board [ cos they are lazy / stupid / greedy ] for the price I stated. I'm saying that it's usually a couple of caps from anywhere.
They are sooooo easy to replace a cack hand could be taught to do it with care. If it's a good set and worth saving have~a~go~jo. For a fiver or so you may have a good spare set.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. :T
Looks pretty simple to me & if my OH could do it..............
I can do it better!:D
Hopefully pick up the part today & have it done this weekend! Great knowing it can be fixed for a couple of quid and the price you stated is the amount the TV guy told my OH to expect to pay £150-£200
I'll give him the good news in the morning when he's nicely hungover! :rotfl:

u~r~welcome!
If you decide to even look inside the case. Unplug it form the mains for 12 hours before opening the back.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
