Boiling water for cooking - pan/kettle

:hello: Hi everyone, I've not been around for a while.
We changed to a whistling kettle after a friend mentioned the speed at which the electricity meter spins round when boiling an electric one. We have seen our electricity bills reduce substancially. Is it because you have to deal with it there and then, rather than reboil that automatic electric kettle that you forgot you had switched on:o ? The only other change we made was to fit energy saving bulbs in the sitting room light fitting - hideous though they are.
I think the kettle has made the most difference.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

I wonder if someone on the energy saving section would know. I tend to either use the microwave or as dannahaz and math do, put a little water in the pan to heat and use kettle. One day I might be more organised...........

Pinkstop it you're making me blush :rotfl:
Those Eco Kettles definately seem like a waste of money! You can tell my electric bills gone through the roof I'm being all nerdy and looking up every which way to save electric (apart from switch my PC off but I am on the one that is cheapest to run out of the 5)
