Groupon....Great deals or scam?

I am also a victim of the slurp "deal". I was planning on buying whisky with it, but they are now saying the voucher cannot be used on any whisky.
The voucher terms state it can be used on ALL products on slurp.co.uk. Is this not breaking the terms of the voucher? Is there anything (legally) I can do, aside from trying to get a refund?
Thanks0 -
I've ordered one today, not really knowing what I was doing but only £8 so no big loss if it doesn't work out. It was a bit of a panic buy, but it was just what I was after.
My cousin was 21 the other week, and I had been looking at afternoon tea vouchers online (not groupon). Yesterday I got an email from Groupon saying they were giving me £8 discount to use by 9th February.
Today at lunch time I spotted an afternoon tea 'cocktail in a teapot' type of deal in glasgow £16. Ah, perfect for that pressie. So I clicked on the buy for a friend bit. I don't even know how this will work. Hopefully I will get a voucher that doesn't say how much it was, and hopefully it won't be too restrictive for her to use.
I'm sort of wishing I got myself one too...although depending how this looks (whether suitable as gift) I might end up keeping it.
Ok, so I'm waiting till midnight now apparently, I don't know how it works, if there has to be a minimum for them to go ahead with the deal or what, and also I don't know if the voucher will state the price, and even worse my £8 discount bringing it down to £8....anyone know, or do I just need to wait and see?0 -
If it doesn't meet the required amount of sales you will get a refund. Between the hours of midnight and sometime early in the morning you will get your voucher, this will say how much it was but it will not say about you having a £8 discount.
Did you only buy the one voucher? Is your friend happy to go on her own?
Me and my mum buy the hair deals quite alot if we find it's a good offer. For manchester a few weeks ago they had a 3 hour falconry experience for £26 but I had groupon credits that I had collected so it only worked out at £19 each bargain I thought!

The voucher is for 'tea for 2' so that's fine.
It was there when I logged in this morning. It mentions the 'RRP' of £40, but not the £16 they were doing it for or the £8 I got it for after I used my £8 credit coupon.
Thanks...hope she likes it!0 -
Latest "deal" from Groupon for an Edinburgh restaurant - claims that their £30 voucher for a meal for two has a "value of £67.60". That is totally misleading as it would only be worth that if both people ordered exactly the same dish as a main course - fillet steak, the most expensive item on the menu.
Most of the starters are £4 or £5 and the mains are £9 to £13 - so just going in and ordering from the normal menu works out at roughly the same price as the "deal price" without the restrictions of buying a voucher, booking in advance, limited availability on times, being limited to a starter and a main rather than a dessert and a main or just a main or whatever..
Very misleading of Groupon to have "Meal For Two for £29.50 (Value £67.60)" in huge letters in bold print when it could only ever possibly be worth that amount in one very specific scenario and in most cases would not be worth much more than they paid for the voucher!"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

Hi
I have noticed that the deal seems to tell you it's based on the most expensive items. I've ordered the 2 for £19 for The Big Blue in Glasgow (it's still on/extended if anyone wants to see what I mean) - I have looked at their menu, and considered what I would order, and it's worth the money for us. What we would order would not come to their total (we're vegetarian too, so it likely never would), but I thnk it's still a good deal. We'll try to book for late afternoon one saturday for after shopping.0 -

I tend to use these deals for hair cuts and colours - last 3 cuts have had off a £35 for £120 voucher to use over 5 months at a top Birmingham salon for hair/beauty. First cut was ok, 2nd two were great with a different stylist - would go again to her but £40 a cut which now I'm use to getting these deals is expensive.
I have booked another deal (from Whanda?) for half head of colours, cut/finish and intensive treatment for £28 at another top Birmingham salon. Been in for the skin test and was impressed.
So never paid more than average of £10-£15 for my last 6 months of cuts all at top salons and all good if not excellent.
Got another £15 cut voucher to use by May.
I tend to look in the day on the website and for reviews of the salon and I ring to see what brands they use. I took a risk with the last one as it was a Mon - Fri deal and I work Mon to Fri but knew I could take a day off in half term - got the day and time I wanted by ringing 9am day after the offer.
I've even asked salons about the small print before booking on groupon if there was something I needed to know.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.
