bt problem dont know were i stand

im very new here so much information and a great help , brillant site
anyway
right i have a major problem with bt and need to know what to do ?
i had a phone bill 3 months ago for £380 pounds so i checked the itemanised bill carefully and yes most of the calls were made by me,my partner or his children
ok thats fine but then i found a dial up number for £130
so i queried it bt didnt know what the number was so i searched on the internet and found it was tiscali dial up
so i phoned back bt and they said well you have to pay it i agrued and said look i havent even got a 56k modem as i built my pc myself im on broadband have been for years
so bt said have you got kids i said what has that got to do with anything so they said well your kids might have downloaded domething so i replied well i doubt it as my stepkids are watched on the net and i have set up the net so they cant download anything without me ie pics music of freinds they have to come to me first.
so i phoned ofcom who confirmed it was defainatly tiscali dial up so i phoned tiscali and they confirmed i am not a customer of theres
so i contacted bt and they said they would look into it
three weeks later bt phoned back still blaming the kids
so i paid the remaning amount less the £130
bt suggested to ask tiscali for confirmation in writing stating i wasnt there customer .
so back on phone to tiscali asking them for said letter that arrived within a month!
i then sent the original to bt
phoned them to inform them of this hoping that would be the last of it
but no!!
bt rang me saying havnt recived said letter
of course silly me never had a copy of said letter
so rang tiscali again still waiting for another letter
im very cross because i built my pc and didnt bother with a 56k modem
secondly i have spyware remover /.ad adware spybot and destroy,avg virus,zonealrm pro firewall windows firewall ete etc
so nothing got through there
i have an adsl modem filterted through
i have nothing else on my line only bb
broadband with demon for two years.
what do i do know i really havnt the time to be on the phone with no results
bt have phoned me 5 times this week alone
the last phone call they suggested restricting my line because of this so called outstanding amount
i mean i just paid them over £200
would anybody else pay for something they no they havnt used
i set up the broadband and the pc
what should i do
any help/suggestions advice ?

i doubt if you'd be able to find out who that tiscali account belonged to but someone may have been using a laptop while you haven't been there ...kids friends etc

hi there thanks for your help
we dont have a laptop and as my stepkids are staying 200 miles from home
they dont have many freinds i am a full time carer so i very rarely go out
any other suggestions?
hi clark please re read my message i paid over £200 already i was questioning the dial up not the call charges ie my rights how i can get this matter sorted out
why should i pay for something i havent used ie dial up would you?
