Does anyone know what happens if you buy a TV from Amazon with a 12 month guarantee and it goes wrong after, say 6 months.
Who effects the repair?
Do you contact Amazon or is there another procedure.

My MIL had this with Samsung. she rang Samsung and they come and repair it but consult SOGA
She had it repaired twice in space of 2 weeks0 -
So basically Amazon sell you the TV then wash their hands of it.0

Amazon are responsible - no one else !
If Amazon have an "arrangement" with anyone else to deal with warranty work - get them to arrange the repair.0 -
Or, just phone the manufacturer and save yourself the hassle.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
No its sometimes easy to deal with the manufacturer in this case. I have dealt with two warrantys with Samsung and they were easy to deal with, I dont know what tv you have
I have another issue with another item from Amazon and it was also easier to deal with the 3rd party company that sold me a light I am having problems with and to there credit it was painless. Of course by right its down to the seller not manufacturer but most times with big goods the goods are actually shipped from the company rather than the actually merchant
I did state the SOGA if you want me to go further after first 6 months the onus is on the buyer to prove it has an inherent fault of course large goods usually gave 12 month warranty or longer so thats why I said contact the manufacturer Amazon will probably tell you this any waySo basically Amazon sell you the TV then wash their hands of it.0 -
PS you post count is 666 hope thats not bad things to come0

Thanks for the replies.
I haven`t bought the TV yet as I`m more concerned about dealing with Amazon if things go wrong.
Usually the RETAILER is responsible under the SoGA but quite often these days people are fobbed off by the retailer and told to contact the manufacturer, when really the retailer should do this.
I would rather pay a bit extra and deal with a reputable high street company than have a lot of hassle arguing on a phone about who does what.
I`m not saying Amazon isn`t reputable, but having searched their website and after phoning twice and getting two different answers about what happens inside the first year if things go wrong, I`m not convinced about buying from them.0 -
you may find if you go through these forums that there aren't as many "reputable" high street companies than you think...with the number of customers Amazon and the likes of Play have, you may find they still give a better price and service....Currys, Dixons, not so sure, M&S, you will invariably pay more for same product, John Lewis is one of the few I've read about on here that give good service, good prices and good warranty....but you pays your money and take your chances like everyone....I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
Yes the retailer is responsible, but all they will do is pass it to the manufacturer for repair anyway so it means it takes longer, sometimes its just easier cutting out the retailer0
