    Hi Ladies

Right...a customer rang this morning to ask if I can pop round to help her choose a foundation ..she was hoping I would have some samples but I explained as it is my first campaign I don't. Bit peed off as I submitted my C16 order at 8am...could of ordered some with that but hey ho.

The earliest I can now get some is Nov 11th.... don't want to put in an extra order really...

Has anyone any advice - I'm a bit scared of recommending one then she doesn't like it!

What is her skin type (dry, oily, combination) and age? What is her skin colour? (fair, olive, tanned ect)

I've never really met her - guessing she's around 50ish? She said she always ends up buying ones that are too light for her.

  • Anew age transforming foundation (pg92 C17) or Magix foundation (pg 68 C17). Also say that if she doesn't like the shade she can return the foundation within 90 days.

Yep I was going to say like drinkupretty, you need to know what type of foundation she likes too. Does she want a powder, cream? See for some people the Avon Magix Foundation is perfect and they don't have to worry about skin type match or skin colour match.

Most of my English (not being rude, white) customers buy the Ivory which sounds strange, but it suits their skin complexion.

You need to go and see her, find out what she likes, what she is looking for, ie does she want to wear something over the foundation, blusher, etc, or does she want a cover up. Then after discussing this, dependent on her skin tone and requirements, my popular ones are Ideals Shade Smooth Minerals Foundation, Ideal Shade Cream-to-Powder foundation, Ideal Shade Natural Liquid foundation and Avon Magix.

Once you know what type she likes, to best colour match, hold the page upto her chin and have a look at the shade, then pick a shade either side too, and request all 3. Hopefully the first one you picked will be perfect, but if not, one of the others might be better, and she will be a happy customer. You can send the others back for credit.

Will that not mean she would have to fork out £30 or so then me give her say £20 back - I really don't know how returns work sorry :o

Agree with aureol re. foundation. Order a selection, let her experiment & send the rest back. I've done it loads of times. Result - a happy customer.

Wish I had some samples I could send you. Could you order any off ebay and ask nicely if they'd post them asap? I did this once when a customer wanted to try something and was glad I did cos they bought.
Im still new too so not up with the foundations I'm afraid xx

no, no! She tries them out at home, ie you go to her home with them, she might turn some down straight away without even removing from packaging!

Then the ones she does like, she tries the shade you recommended, unless it is magix, as no need for that, and if it is perfect, she buys that one from you and you return the other items for credit.

You don't pay anything for them, she only pays for what she wants. You don't pay out anything up front.
