Leaky Vinyl Roof On Cabriolet Car
I have a cabriolet car (a pretty old one) with a vinyl roof (not fabric).
I am after waterproofing it as rain seems to soak in and the seats are damp.
In the past I have used Autoglym fabric re-proofer, but this is not ideal as it sits on the surface and within a couple of weeks the roof is leaking again (it is also very pricey stuff!).
At the moment I'm using a full car cover, but this is not ideal, or even convenient.
Does anybody know a product I can purchase to apply and waterproof the vinyl? Also where do I purchase it from.
Thanks for looking!

I used autoglyms Bumper Care on my mk1 golf convertible, brought it up lovely, smells lovely and seemed to last for quite a while. Also good for waterproofing gloves if you're a biker.0

Hi.
i too have a convertible, but with a fabric roof.
by far the best waterproofer is by renovo.
http://www.renovointernational.com/products/kit_vst.php
buy that kit, and your hood should look like new.
however, nothing will stop a leaky roof... if you've got a tear, then i suggest you put waterproof sealant/glue in the tear. also find out where exactly the leak is coming from. (maybe from the windscreen joint or window edges?)0 -
Soft tops only have a limited lifespan so there will come a point when all the reproofing in the world won't stop the leaks. It may well be time to bite the bullet and get a replacement roof (some good deals on ebay ATM). I sympathise cos our MX5 needs a new roof now too.2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0

Many thanks to all you lovely people who took the time-out to reply to my query.
Special thanks for the link to Renovo, I've been on the site, read about the product, looked at the reviews and have just made an order for the Vinyl Roof Kit (£21.50). It's got to be worth a go, there are no rips or tears, so I think it's just an age thing.
I know somebody who had a new roof fitted to his Rover Cab a couple of years ago at a cost of £500.
Whilst reading about the product I picked up a link for new soft hoods at https://www.autohoods.co.uk
I haven't actually looked at this site, but thought it may help someone out.
Very many thanks to you all once again.
If there are any problems in life - this site is absolutely brilliant at getting people to help each other out - :Tsassybird0
