Help ... Social Services

This is my story in a nutshell

About six weeks ago i got a call from social services asking if i could take my late brothers kids in as there was problems with their mothers new husband being violent

So i agreed to taking them in ... it was a no brain-er as i love em like my own, so now my family as gone from my own three kids to six kids which as you might guess as not been easy

Ive been told by social services that i will be looking after them for the foreseeable future

So this is the help i need .. i had to go and purchase new beds for the kids of which social services reimbursed us half the cost and also they payed us in the first week £150 for their upkeep

Their mother as been giving us the money that she as been paid for the kids .. till everything is sorted with social security and other government agency's

What id like to know is if somebody could point me in the right direction of a site that would tell me what I'm entitled to in the way of financial help as me and my partner are struggling on the money that we are getting Ive not received anymore financial help off social services since the initial payment of £150 is this right

Regards
Uncle-Bob

    Hi

I suggest you send a private message to Mooloo, who is caring for her GD and has had great difficulty with finding. She knows her way round the system. She posts on the familes and mariiage forum.

You can pick up some guidance from the experience of Millie22 who is fostering 5 of her sister's children after the mother was imprisoned.
  • Fostering family members means you are not entitled to a lot of things regular foster parents get.

Hi Uncle-Bob, you could become what is known as kinship carers. Different authorities work it differently, but you should be paid an allowance per week per child. If you google kinship carers there's loads of links about it. Also take a look at this link....
