Tiscali Broadband not working, router/modem/PC fine

Hello.

I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with Tiscali Broadband?

We have two lines at home, one of which is on Tiscali. I don't really use it myself, but when I came home yesterday I was told that the internet was not working. We have that line connected to a Linksys WRT54GL and ADSL2MUE router/modem, and on checking these they were both fine. I did a reset on both just in case there was a problem I hadn't noticed, but it made no difference. PC is picking up an IP address from the DHCP server, so all seems well. Router reports ping and Trace tests fail. So it must be a Tiscali problem. Can't imagine the exchange is at fault, as the second line, not with Tiscali, is fine.

If anyone can make any suggestions I'd be most grateful. I'm not too anamoured with their Technical Support, as we used to have IMAP e-mail access, but one day that stopped working and we never got a satisfactory explanation as to why, but that's a different issue.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers and take care.

Hussein.

Lots of people are having problems with Tiscali at the moment (just see reports from plusnet), get out while you can and get a good ISP.
Windows is the path to the darkside...Windows leads to Blue Screen. Blue Screen leads to downtime. Downtime leads to suffering...I sense much Windows in you.

Thank you for your post, but unfortunately we are tied to Tiscai until the 19th at least. At the moment the main priority is to get the service back up and running. I was looking to see if there are any people at this moment in time who are having problems connecting to the service that are not related to their own equipment.

    Hello,

Just a quick note to say that I finaly got through to Tiscali after an hour of trying their support number and being told to call back later as they were busy (automated messages) but whn I was finally connected the problem was resolved in under five minutes. I just explained that I had checked all my network equipment as well as the computers themselves, at which point it was identified that the computer was not finding the Tiscali DNS servers. 30 seconds and the required details later and we were up and running.

For those that may have similar problems, the server address are as follows:
    DNS1: 212.74.112.66
    DNS2: 212.74.112.67

These can be input either on your individual computers or on your gateway, if you have one. This may be preferable for people who, for example, use laptops and who connect to other networks, e.g work/school, which use their own auto-detected DNS servers.

Hope this helps, and thanks again.
