Care for a honeysuckle
Hi all,
I have a beautiful honeysuckle that has grown immensely this year. However it has started to come away from it's climber and look a little messy. Is there any specific care instructions for it? Can I prune it? I want it to look nice next spring/summer
Thanks

there are lots of honeysuckles in the hedge rows where i live. they are just trimmed when the farmers cut the hedges, usually once a year, sometime between now and march, when they get round to it . they always seem to have lots of flowers. hope this helps."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

it seems pretty prolific so hopefully it will do ok with a wee prune in the next few weeks Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
My honeysuckle's 4 yrs old. Last yr it spread and flowered so gloriously I couldn't bear to prune it till the end of Oct, but it smothered the Italian buckthorn hedge next to it and killed off some patches, so I was ruthless and cut it right down to the ground. This yr it put all its energy into getting right back where it had been, and not a single flower, so its going out in the lane this autumn. So I guess you could prune it by half and still get flowers next yr.
I love it for the scent, and 'cos it attracts all sorts of moths, though the butterflies never seem so keen.If I'm over the hill, where was the top?0
