What will happen with Tax Credits

I need to let them know that my partner has now reduced her work from 52 hours down to around 16, also a pay decrease of £18k just wondered what effect this would have on child tax credits?

We are also now paying childcare. I am receiving vouchers through my work but there is asurplus of around £60 extra that I cannot get vouchers for.

  • What was the joint income for last year, what is it for this year, do you work at least 16 hours, is there any disability entitlement, how many children, are any under 1?

    Potential increase in ctc due to the reduced income, possible wtc too if joint income now under £18000. Assuming you are both working 16 hours you can claim for the childcare you have to pay yourself, i.e. the £60 (is it weekly, monthly amount?) and you should remember to reduce your gross income declared to tax credits by the amount paid for vouchers if not already deducted. Give correct figures and dates changes take effect and you could get a better answer to amount of entitlement.

    Thanks for your reply, and sorry it has taken a little while to come back.

    Last year (09/10) figures were;

    Mine 24000.00
    Partner £32000.00

    This year (10/11);

    Mine £24000.00
    Partner £13500.00 accurate estimate as she is now self employed

    I work 35 hours, she works around 15 but as self employed can easily strecth this to 16 hours. No disability entitlement, one child, just about to turn 1 this month.

    My gross income will decrease from £24000 to £22299 because of the childcare vouchers. The surplus amount of £60 is a monthly amount.

    Thanks for any hep you can give :)
  • Because of the total joint household income you would only qualify for ctc of £10.50 pw.
