Yes but what mileage do you do in between?
Take a 6 inch nail and drop it in a glass of salt water, come back in 2 days and tell me what it looks like ;)

Im wondering if there's a problem with your exhaust mounts now too.

I don't do any miles in between, but I've put a nail in salt water and it hasn't helped my exhaust :D

That could well be the problem, given that its happened in 3 times in as many years there must be an underlying cause - and it isn't my driving! I'll be sure to ask them to make sure all the mounts are in order...

It appears the exhaust pipe corrodes near the input to the silencer. Over time a hole develops and it gets quite loud, eventually the hole becomes to big and the pipe just falls off - anyone have any ideas on why this has happened two (soon to be three) times?

    Yep...

Worn engine mounts allowing the engine to rock forward and backwards excessively

    or

Lots of short journeys so the condensation that builds up inside the exhaust never gets fully dried off.
  • Not all garages require you to book in so they can get the right exhaust in first. When I got my last exhaust done I just rolled up at my local garage and they fitted a new one within an hour. Part suppliers like NPA, Andrew Page, etc do regular same-day deliveries throughout the day to garages when they phone up for parts.

Phone around a few trusted local garages first to see if they can do it same day first before going to Sh*t Fit.
