Great wage this month puts me back on track financially for car payments in september . Fixed rate will end in 6 months which should release funds in future to look after car money .
Plan to end dmp by end of 2014 unless unforseen circumstances arise . Have thought about taking a holiday next year but would rather clear debt then I can have as many holidays as I like:T
Not getting as much work this month but should clear my basic which keeps me ticking over nicely .
Weight loss passed a milestone as well so  all round this month .

Weight loss turned into a gain!! It is the time of year where I feel very tired , but I have 2 weeks off work in 3 weeks time so hopefully I will go for a walk each day and focus on the weight loss .
Wage more than my minimum for this month so I am building up a little surplus , although I have a bald tyre to replace before the mot !
Planning for the future now , looking to open savings account for the first time in my life to put a little in each month when the mortgage drops and use this amount to clear my debts hopefully by the end of 2014 .
I have been left a message to contact the person at work who deals with financial referrals and references which I will be doing today . I have no idea why this is though . Dont know whether to be worried or not .
My parents are getting a new sofa next month and we have the chance of collecting their current one , only need to get a van . I will be ringing around today for quotes but am worried that not having a credit card means I can't hire one , will find out later .

Phone call made to work , I had sent some paper work and not stamped it , that is all . Made phone calls to see if I can hire a van without a debit or credit card which I can with a cash deposit of between £80 and £250 , just need to sort out dates and get quotes .

2 weeks off work:j Cleaning carpets woo hoo .
Priced up van hire and booked for under £50 with an £80 deposit , week on Friday we get my parents 3 piece suite , 10 years old but well looked after so will do us fine until we can afford a new one of our own . Fear a week on Saturday will be cushion and throw shopping in Dunelm , Ikea and other home furnishing establishments , just what I want to do on the second saturday off of the year :D
Been to see our mortgage advisor yesterday , not good , fixed rate ending so new product in December , a 2 year fix looks good to get us debt free by the end of 2014 :T Asked about the future , we need to be debt free and wait 3 years until they will consider us for an application , during those 3 years I will need to pay the mortgage right down to enable us to move house , and then if we were accepted we would be back where we were 10 years ago , a full term mortgage and a house we need to spend money on to get it how we like . The logical answer is to stay put , accept what we've got , pay the mortgage off early and live debt free and mortgage free and start living our lives . That could be achievable before I hit 50 , if we move I would have to work all hours until I'm 65 at least  We could live were we are and erm what's the word beginning with H ? Ah yes holiday!!!:T I could drop my hours , work elsewhere monday to friday , evenings and weekends free . I'm not brave enough to ask if I could go to the rugby though !!! Anyway will think it over whilst Vaxing bedroom today ,10 years time I could be abroad relaxing , but when would the carpets get cleaned ?
  • Time to pay for the annual bills for the car . Comparison shopping for insurance and happy with quotes around £250 . Tax is £135 and need to book mot for the week after next .
I am fed up living or should I say surviving . I have thought about the future . I would love a holiday . In 3 months time I will be around £200 a month better off . I know I should put this on to the dmp and clear my debts 2 years from then but we have lived for 2 years with no spare money , no treats , nothing . I am fed up with this . I have thought about saving up for a once in a lifetime trip somewhere but this money could and should and needs to be spent on the house . We can't move so we need to maintain and improve . First up new doors , front and back , I have been unable to lock or unlock or open either one properly for months now , sort it . After that draw up a list of the other big jobs ie kitchen , bathroom , heating , probably cars , furniture etc , maybe build extra rooms , utility and media rooms and then travel . This is the plan for the future which starts on December 1st , the dmp will look after itself and clear at its current schedule of 2017 . No new house but we will make the best of this one , no rugby shirt , I just have no motivation to lose weight , maybe having a savings account will see me trading in the lbs for £s !!!!!:rotfl:

lbs for £££'s sounds a good idea to me.
I wish I had thought to do that.
I think it would be a great incentive.

You have toughed it out for two years at least, something i can only dream of as yet.
I will need to keep my momentum for 15 years at least i reckon, in fact i have not even looked at how long yet, my original loan was 25 years but i am a year behind but i think with the interest it will take longer than the year to pay it back. But i hope with overpayments it will come down quicker. 15 years is the dream.

Maybe instead of a big expensive holiday, a small weekend away somewhere new would recharge your batteries?
    loan £57,000!!!!
    Started Sept 2012 - Made 21st £25 payment off arrears =£525
July 2013 made 11th full payment of £491 to loan, Hooray!!!!!! B XX
  • Well done Andy, just had a read of the diary and sounds like you've done really well! I know EXACTLY how you feel about wanting a holiday! I sometimes get too involved in the debt repayments and have found it really helps to work towards the occasional treat every now and then. There was a stage when all I wanted to do was get the debt cleared ASAP, but I soon realised that maintaining a sustainable plan is much better for my life and my sanity!

Anyway, all the best, keep it up and I'll be sure to pop in for an update from time to time.

Thank you for taking the time to read and your kind words . 15 years , wow , I really wish you all the best . I have set myself small targets in terms of time of which I am approaching the final one but I do get very frustrated seemingly watching life pass me by and not living it . In 5 years I should be debt free and enjoying buying what I want once saved up for it , but 5 years seems so far off .
Best of luck with your journey , I will keep in touch .
