MailMerge without Office

Is there a "simple to use" (freeware) alternative to MailMerge that can be used on a PC without MS Office ?
This is for my wife at work - who has been requested to set up a mailing DB (with about 50 addresses)
This is for "snail mail" rather than email....
Any alternative suggestions welcome ?

Here's a table at Wikipedia listing various word processors and their abilities:

I'd recommend Open Office as a free starting place. One issue with that though is that Open Office is now owned by Oracle and the developers appear to be starting a parallel project which is currently called LibreOffice.0 -

Sorry - I didn't explain well enough
This is on a PC that doesn't have ANY office software (can't for various reasons) - she has a list of addresses and needs to produce a mail shot from this list.......0 -

If it "can't for various reasons" how can she create a mailshot on it, and how is she going to create the database of names and addresses. OpenOffice could do it and it's free.
I don't know if Microsoft's Office Live will work with Mail Merge
nor have I any experience of Google Docs, perhaps someone else might expand on those options. I personally have an aversion to using the cloud for things like that.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Infacta do a brilliant groupmail product and its freeware version will allow you to mail maximum 100 people. Always do a test to your own email address first to make sure it will look how you wish.
