Cost of gas in 2 bed flat..

I understand this may be like asking how long is a piece of string, but I am just looking for others advice/experiences to give me an idea.
I'm looking at moving into a 2 bed brand new build flat (top floor). The flat has all gas appliances. As far as I know they are not prepayment meters.
I'm interested in how much this may be per month, just to get a rough budget worked up.
Thanks

Should be very cheap, top floor flats is where everybody else's heating ends up
I have a friend who uses his storage heaters for about 2 weeks of the year due to his location on the top of the flats.
As you said, how long is a piece of string. Insulation should be best possible, efficiency of boiler should be best possible, residual heat from below is best possible - depends how warm you like it I guess? If you are from the Caribbean I would expect you to pay £40 a month max (DD all year round so bill of £480 for the year) and if you are in all day expect the same. We are a 2 person 3 bed 3 storey terrace new build and we pay £45 a month DD for gas + electric combined, out all day at work with gas for hob, shower and radiators, electric oven0 -
Thanks, appreciate your answer. The only issue is that at present there is no one else in the block of flats as they are so new - except one person on the very bottom who is on the opposite side. So no stealing heating at the moment!
The figures are interesting though - I had budgeted more like £80 for both per month.

Well you can work it out if you are sensible. Im using my Scottish Power Esaver9 tariff prices.
Lets say you are out from 8am to 6pm (9 - 5 with an hour each way for commute).
630am - 7am heating comes on for a blast of hot air to get you out of bed - even on full blast this will use no more than 20kw of gas x 3.332p = 66p x 5 (£3.30 a week) x 4 (£13.20 a month). You get the idea, can use the same for other periods of heating. Bear in mind it works off a thermostat so wont be burning gas 2/3 of the time the GCH is 'ON', the electric pump will just be pushing hot water round.
My boiler is rated at 30kWh, so can burn a maximum of 30 units of gas an hour on full blast. GCH temp is set at 3/5 and hot water is also 3/5, so when its on its not on full, and its also on a thermostat, which is where I derived my 'wont be burning gas 2/3 of the time' statement from. As you are most likely in a smaller space than me you could well have a smaller boiler.
For electric, get a few appliances you use all the time and do the same calculations:
My 4 year old 32" LCD uses 150w/h. If its on for 5 hours a day that is 0.150 x 5 x (avg.) 12p = 9p x 7 days = 63p x 4 weeks = £2.52 a month
You can do the same for pretty much anything, its a bit anal, but if you want fairly accurate figures its the best way to do it
Hope this helps, if Ive got any of this wrong someone will fairly sharpish point out the mistake!0
