hi there
im posting on behalf of my friend. he has had his barclays debit card cloned. however the only money he had stolen was an hardship loan from the benefits office all of £90. he is stuck with NO money and no way of paying his bills/rent or even food. he doesnt know what to do.
i dont know what to surgest. these criminals must be scum  to steal from ppl who have nothing. he doesnt even have a bed and hes sleeping on a sofa. his council flat smells because the council wont change the carpet that stinked ever since he moved in. To top it all both his sister and brother died just last year within two weeks of one another.
guys my mate needs some good advice hes in a bad way. ive tried to help him all i can but dont know how else to help him.
Can he get his money back from the cloned card???

I've twice been the victim of credit card fraud and both times the bank has refunded my money within a couple of days, and issued a new card, cancelling the old one with quibbles though afterwards I've had to fill in a few forms. Has he rung his bank's fraud hotline?0

He needs to call Barclays fraud department as soon as possible and explain what happened, they will put a block on the card. They will want to know the circumstances and ascertain that he was not negligent....he should get his money back but that may take a week or two...0

If there is fraud on a credit card there is nothing to refund............0 -

Well no, the money wasn't taken from my account. However it's a bit of a shock to discover that you owe £600 more on your credit card than you thought but the balance was quickly restored to normal. I assume the procedure is similar for debit card fraud and the OP's friend should have that much to worry about provided he can manage for the next few days.0 -
barclays have said he MIGHT get his money back and they are looking into it all. so i have surgested that he goes to the c.a.b first thing monday morning to get them to ring barclays. it turns out he filled out all the paperwork for changing his joint bank account into his bank account but this wasnt actioned(yes his exwife has cut up the card in front of him). Also this shop that his card was cloned at turns out that ALOT of ppl have had their cards cloned at. i can not understand why he hasnt got his money back?0

Barclays will need to investigate. They won't promise that he'll get his money back because they haven't finished their investigation. It can take a couple of weeks.
I know it's frustrating and it sounds like your friend is in a horrible situation. Perhaps he can get a crisis loan?0 -

the money that was stolen WAS the crisis loan. !!! i dont understand there are lots of ppl on here that have got their money back straight away why are they making him wait when he has told them that he is being threatend with eviction? He needs the money now. thats why he applied for the crisis loan then it was stolen. not getting angry at any of the ppl on here just getting angry at the scumbags that stole this money from him.0
