Barclaycard refusing to refund following a scam

My daughter recently got scammed by a website where she had ordered some concert tickets. The website in question (michaelbublelive.net) is all over the internet as a scam. She "purchased" the tickets, using her Barclaycard, several months in advance, and received an e-mail confirmation. However, she inadvertently deleted the confirmation. Now that the website has been declared a scam, she contacted Barclaycard, explaing the situation, including the deleted confirmation, and they promised to look into it, and send a claim form. Several weeks later they have not sent a claim form but have advised her that they won't refund the cost of the tickets unless she can provide a copy of the e-mail confirmation!
They can see the transaction on their system and they must know (just by using Google!) that the website has now been exposed as a scam, so this sounds like a cop out to me and they are just trying to find an excuse not to refund her the money?
Does anyone know if they can actually do this? Has anyone else had a similar experience? If so, how did you resolve it.
I'd appreciate any feedback.
Thanks in advance!

Your bank are correct- They will require invoices and all the documentation concerning the charge for them to investigate it and chargeback the transaction.
What you honestly think that just because its on a statement they are going to refund you cause you said you havent got the item/service.
Yes I am aware the website is a scam as a quick google seach can confirm, however it adds no weight to your claim.
And anyways it wont be then refunding the money, they will get it from the merchants bank in question. So might just be possible bad customer service on their part. The scam ticket websites are pretty straight forward from experience and chargebacks are rarely contested, as of course the merhcant dont have a leg to stand on.
Good luck0 -

Not if the merchant has cleared the account and disappeared.0 -
Thanks for the initial feedback.. but not really sure that the negativity in your 2nd paragraph was absolutely necesary, Gnaril? I posted on here for help, advice and possibly support, but not what comes across as a condescending tone.
Anyway, further to my post, it now seems that I was misinformed, and my daughter did not actually receive any confirmation from the website. Therefore the only record of the transaction is the statement.
Barclaycard now say that in order to "give the matter their full attention", they need the following:
a) Copies of ALL correspondence. But it was explained that there was none!
b) The event date. This was supposed to be tonight!
c) A copy of the purchase invoice. There was none!
Somehow I feel sure that the credit card company can't dismiss the whole claim?0 -
Was it a secure payment website?0

As I understand, yes it was a secure payment site. There has certainly been no fraudulent activity on the account to suggest otherwise.0

First of all, she needs to get a claim form to dispute the transaction for non-delivery. Ring again, don't mention the deleted email, they should send you a form. When you get it, write the full story detailing all the attempts you have made to contact the scammers, and the fact that they have not responded to any form of contact. You will get a moronic reply back from one of their worse than useless drones in Mumbai saying that you need to write to the merchant and forward a copy of their reply, when of course you have already explained they are not replying.
Call again, they will continue to stonewall, so raise a complaint. Here you have a choice, you could waste a lot of time chasing them, or you could be like me and not get round to it. When the complaint nears the 60 day time limit, beyond which you can take it to the ombudsman, it will finally get looked at by someone with a clue and some authority. In my case this is when I got a message left on my answering machine that they had refunded the transaction. They know the ombudsman will find against them when there is a huge weight of evidence out there that it is a scam operation, and it costs them £500 just for starters.
My case was with Computerwebstore, another take the money and run merchant, you'll find a few threads on here.0
