No Buying Toiletries in October Challenge

I had a big spendy splurge on Thursday night. I went to an Aloe Vera party. I came away £76.96 lighter. When it all arrives I will list it all on here. I'm happy with what I have chosen though because it is all stuff that I will use. I have got 3 aloe vera lip balms already that I bought that evening (only paid for one though!). You can use them as a first aid stick too, so if you cut or graze yourself you stick it on your wound and it gets going on healing it.
The products seem quite expensive but I worked out what I would be paying for other higher end products and think that they are comparable.
Interestingly enough, she showed us a serum that they have brought out. It had a white tea fragrance and we all tried it. It felt similar to the No7 P&P serum and I asked her how much? She said there was 118mls in the bottle and it's £31.?? a bottle. Everyone else there was like HOW MUCH? Until I pointed out that P&P is £21.95 for 30ml. I reckon I may well order that once the P&P is used up.
So there is my admission of guilt. Am I sorry? Blimey I wouldn't know where to start.
I must have one large drawer full of perfumes, body lotions, potions and stuff in my bedroom. Then stuff on my dressing table.
In the spare room I have two large drawers of shower gels, talcs, gift sets, travel size pots, and also another drawer and basketful of makeup I hardly wear, and hair stuff.
Oh yes , then I have stuff in the cupboard in the bathroom.
You have made me feel guilty now, so I will be having a good look round and joining in this thread.
I will promise to try and use up as much as I can before buying more.
No doubt I will be getting more stuff for xmas and my birthday in dec.
Enjoyed reading this thread, thanks for making me realise I need to declutter.0 -

I can't believe the difference this challange has made to both my mind set and the number of products I had, in such a small amount of time. I finally feel that I am taking some control. :hello:welcome aboard binnie - this is a really great challenge. You may find it helpful to make a list of all your products, I know that when I did this I was gobsmacked and completely mortified at just how much stuff i had gathered up over the years (47 bottles of perfume, 22 mascaras, 67 pots of goo promising all sorts of miracles for my skin, not to mention everything else - you get the picture:o:o).
Having to make an inventory of everything can seem a little daunting at first but it really is worth it. I now get a real buzz from using something up and striking it off the list.
Good luck with the challenge and enjoy all the pampering, xx0 -
Morning all,
I agree with all the comments - the best thing I've found about this challenge is that I've actually started to look at what I use and how much of it. It has stopped me buying different hair styling products and body scrubs, as I've found I don't use them, and now I know to stock up on the things I get through in record time - mouthwash, cotton wool pads, etc. And of course, I get to hear from all the lovely contributors on the board!0 -
Me too - it really makes you think before you buy - which is probably the biggest part of the battle !!!
I had a huge clear out yesterday - fuelled by my "in" - Company magazine came with a freebee Nails inc varnish - might have to go look and see which other colours they have on the other magazines, all my varnishes are gloopy and horrid !!
threw away pretty much all my makeup - I only really wear lippy and mascara - so kept all the ones that werent gloopy, but chucked pretty much everything else. Doesnt seem to have made a massive difference to my box though!!!
will definately get round to a new inventory sometime - I think Im doing quite well getting rid of my stuff though I have been here since the start !!!Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
I don't actually have much, just a bit of makeup then I have my shower gels (3) and (4) moisturisers/body lotions
I don't even have the money to buy anything now anyways...Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0 -
Minor fail last night while ordering part of the other half's christmas pressie from The Body Shop, because of one of their offers I ended up buying an extra face scrub bar to get the free warming face mask, and renewed my LYB card - so now I have to make the effort to buy bits from there to make it worth while, although the saving on my order last night covered almost half the cost of it.It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Happy Halloween all ,
It could take me a day to list all the stuff.
But I will go and do a bit today, it will shock you all I think.
I don't look after myself properly, I don't use body lotion until I feel my skin drying out that I can't move.
But last night after reading this thread, I used some. It was an old Avon firming body lotion. Hmm, maybe I will be firmer by xmas. :rotfl:0
