Laptop return to Tesco

Hi,
I purchased an Acer Laptop from Tesco 9 months ago and yesterday when opening the lid one of the number buttons came off the keyboard through no fault of my own. I took it back to Tesco to see if they could fix or replace the laptop. They advised me to package it up and send it to Acer and that they couldn't help.
I always thought that because I purchased it from Tesco they should be my first point of call for the first 12 months and not the manufacturer.
Please can someone clarify where I stand as I'm not happy the keyboard has broken and it's not something I have caused.
Many thanks

Does it not clip back on?
For faults on Tesco electrical goods you need to ring the Electrical Goods Helpline.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Hi, no i've tried clipping it back on, also Tesco was trying to portray that I had accidentally broke it and that it wasn't a fault.0

The problem you have is that, if they don't want to repair it, you need to prove that the laptop was inherently faulty. I do think that you will struggle to do this. Is the button damaged in any way, has part of it snapped off?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Hi no it hasn't snapped off or broken or anything, so i'm a bit confused as to how it's come off!0

Sometimes they do just come off, though I always blame the cat's late night MSN sessions when it happens to me!
If nothing is damaged it should go back on - they can be very fiddly, maybe worth asking someone else to have a go?Gone ... or have I?0 -
OK thanks for your help0
