Asus laptop to TV

I've connected the laptop to the TV using s-video to composite but I can't get a picture on the TV. I know it's not the cable as I can get a Mac notebook to work.

Obviously doing something silly but what?

Have you turned the TV-out on the laptop on?
There are several ways of doing this depending on which model of laptop you own and which graphics chip they shoved inside it.
If there isn't a tool to do this try looking in the display properties for the computer. I think (I am currently using a Mac) it is right click on the empty desktop, click properties and then the last tab.
Windows is the path to the darkside...Windows leads to Blue Screen. Blue Screen leads to downtime. Downtime leads to suffering...I sense much Windows in you.

Make sure the cable is plugged in before you turn the pc on.

When windows loads, right mouse button on the back ground and go to properties and when in that window go to the settings tab on the top right.

You should get a picture like this.

My computer came up with multiple possibilities when I did it.

Right mouse button all the numbered squares which are slightly greyed out and click attached, then click apply. Your screen should hopefully spring into life.

If like me you had a couple of different monitors appearing, click identify and a large number should appear on your screen, and un attach any screen which did not have a corresponding number.

You will now need to alter resolutions etc to get it perfect.
