sorting my mp3 tags out

hi all,

my music library is a right mess and i want to get it sorted.

whats the best and quickest way of getting the track name, number, album name and genre sorted??

on my ipod there are about 30 track 1's and 2'3s and 3's etc!! and i never know what actual track they are.

is there a way of hooking my music library up to the net and it searching for the right info and changing it to the correct info?? or would that just be me wishing for too much??

i have about 85 gig of music albums so i dont fancy going through them one by one changing them.

thanks in advance.

I think Musicbrainz has the biggest database and is most likely to identify your songs by analysing them, but I'm afraid I haven't tried their most recent tagger so can't comment on how good or automated it is.

Try mp3tag (https://www.mp3tag.de/en/). If your music is stored as one album per directory, it'll use the online info from freedb to suggest track/artist/album info to automatically paste into the tags.
