Kubuntu Linux

After reading another post regarding Linux, I have installed Kubuntu on my laptop, dual-booting with Windows XP.

Must say that I am very impressed with both the visual and speed of the OS.

If you are thinking of looking at Linux, give it a go.

I use Ubuntu and have stopped using XP. People should give this a try before paying out for XP/Vista. Started using Ubuntu about four months ago never got the hang of Linux before but I found this very user friendly. Check out this site for more information.

I did have Ubuntu installed, but then installed the KDE desktop which is much better imo.

This can be done with a full install of Kubuntu or just grab the KDE part.
I then uninstalled the Gnome environment and all is superb.

Wireless internet works using D-Link G604T router and G650+ wireless card.
Had to tweak the G650+ config to get it to work, but it was not hard.

Running it on laptop atm, but might soon dual-boot it on main desktop also.

The newer Linux distributions being released have many more features than Vista, and using Cedega (I suggest an Nvidia graphics card with this) you can also run many of the latest Windows games on it.

I used to be a minor KDE developer / patch maker, I find it much easier to work with than Gnome. But it is all personal opinion, I know developers and fellow BOFHs who prefer Gnome.
Windows is the path to the darkside...Windows leads to Blue Screen. Blue Screen leads to downtime. Downtime leads to suffering...I sense much Windows in you.

Just for anyone that has a Core 2 Duo and is thinking of switching:

I think the patch is due in the next few weeks (October 26th).

Well, that is more of a chipset issue than a CPU issue. The basic SMP core should support Core 2 Duo fine.
