Credit Card Debt written off

I stupidly paid a company to look at my credit card agreement and advise whether it was unenforceable. They advised that it was but nw are not dealing with the credit card company and I cannot contact them by phone because they have an answerphone. I have written to them three times now and demanded my money back but have heard nothing. Can anyone advise what my next step should be?

I'd probably cut your losses and in future spend the money on paying back your credit card rather than paying to try and get out of it
  • If you paid for the advice, then you got your advice. It may have turned out to be bad advice, but unless it was negligently given you probably don't have a cause for complaint.

If the firm concerned was a law firm and you are unhappy with their service, then provided you've exhausted their complaints procedure you can complain to the SRA.

If you paid with a credit card and didn't get what you were promised, then (ironically) you can make a s75 claim on the credit card company if the amount was over £100.

Or you can sue the firm. But you must be sure you didn't get what you were promised and that you can evidence this, preferably by reference to a letter or T+Cs.
  • Thanks very much for the advice chattychappy. I do have an agreement with them, I have now found a thread on here specific to my problem and it seems many people have been scammed by the same company and it looks like I wont get a penny from them. I will definately be looking to go down the s75 route though.
Oh and thanks for your advice drbesty, yes it's very easy to be wise after the event but these people are very clever at making you believe that you have been unfairly treated.

The phrase "you can't con an honest man" comes to mind.

I am so glad to see all these chancers who thought they could wriggle out of their commitments are getting shafted. Just like they hoped to do to others.

That will be embarrasing to explain what the payment was for. :rotfl:I can just see it now:

'I am claiming for money, for a company I paid to write off your credit card'. Do let us know if the CC company pays out - you never know they may pay you, and tell you to take your business elsewhere. Now that would be a turn up for the books!

'Too good to be true' should spring to mind.

You can't help from laughing at this situation.

It's a bit like buying a hammer at B&Q and then threatening the cashier with it until he opens the till.

And then asking for a refund for the hammer.
