Phone recommendations for the hard of hearing please?

I have an elderly father who has hearing aids in both ears. I have tried numerous phones for him but the problems come down to two main areas.
1. He claims not to hear the phone ring even when sitting in the same room.
2. He claims not to be able to hear the caller very well (but I have long suspected this is selective!).
Does anyone know of any possible solution? Have tried the RNID website but there are surprisingly few options that meet his needs. He needs a T piece option, A flashing signal to go along with a ringing sound for incoming calls and an inclusive answering machine where it flashes if a new message has arrived and also shows a counter of total messages.
Oh and by the way he is grumpy and unappreciative but I will welcome any input.;)
